Provincial Council

The Provincial Council, made up of a group of elected people’s representatives for Noord-Holland, is essentially in charge of the province.
The current 55 members were elected by the electorate of Noord-Holland on 20 March 2019.

They meet every month to take decisions on matters for which the province is responsible. Budget planning is an important item on the Provincial Council’s annual agenda, which also outlines the Provincial Executive’s tasks and the course the province should be taking. The budget furthermore indicates how much money the Council has earmarked and for what purposes. Each November, the Provincial Council draws up the budget for the following year.
