Provincial Executive of the Province of Noord-Holland

The Provincial Executive is in charge of the day-to-day administration of the province and is appointed once every 4 years (after the provincial elections) by members of the Provincial Council.

The Provincial Executive draws up proposals and implements decisions. Each member is responsible for a number of subjects (portfolios), such as welfare or traffic and transport. The King’s Commissioner, Arthur van Dijk, also serves on the Provincial Executive, in the capacity of chairman.

The Provincial Executive starts its term of office with the preparation of a board programme to outline the key policy points for its 4-year term. The next step is to draw up an annual policy budget and have the Provincial Council adopt it. The Provincial Executive renders account of the policy pursued over the past year by means of financial statements and an annual report.
