Administration

The provincial government of North-Holland oversees the province of the same name, a province that includes 61 municipalities, among them the capital city of Amsterdam. The provincial government has its seat in Haarlem, which is also the province’s capital. Like the national Government and the local councils, the province is also responsible for a number of tasks concerning housing, economics, agriculture, recreation and the environment, to mention just a few. The province has its own governing council, which is elected by the people every four years.
