King’s Commissioner in the province of Noord-Holland

Arthur van Dijk has been the King’s Commissioner in the province of Noord-Holland since 7 January 2019.

A King’s Commissioner in the Netherlands is the chairman in the Provincial Council and the Provincial Executive.

He is appointed by the Crown (the King and Ministers) by nomination of the Provincial Council. A commissioner is appointed for a term of 6 years. This term is extended each time by 6 years.Once the commissioner reaches the age of 70 years, he has to retire

Above this 14%, that is, in excess of € 20,734.93, half of the income from the additional positions not connected with the post will be deducted from the Commissioner’s income. The same system applies to the members of the House of Representatives and Members of the Provincial Executive.
